Position: Imports Coordinator
Location: Mesquite, TX
About the Role:
As an Imports Coordinator, you will play a vital role in facilitating import shipments from various countries via air and ocean. You will serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, federal agencies, and freight forwarders, ensuring that customer expectations are not only met but exceeded. You will work closely with internal departments and external partners to maintain efficiency and profitability through high accuracy in our forwarding systems.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the sales team and customers to understand shipping requirements.
- Communicate effectively with brokerage companies to provide timely information.
- Review and verify carrier charges for accuracy before approval.
- Maintain detailed spreadsheets to analyze additional charges and create AR invoices.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive attitude and proactive approach.
- Evaluate and process import documents to obtain customs releases and invoices.
- Maintain knowledge of customs clearance processes and execute transportation strategies effectively.
- Work with inventory planning and freight forwarders to manage the movement of goods.
- Coordinate with product development teams to determine import transportation costs.
- Ensure accuracy of international shipping information across all documents.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries in designated shared inboxes.
Qualifications:
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proactive problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with production and workflow systems is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Previous customer service and logistics experience in a related field.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Position operates in a professional office environment with some exposure to warehouse settings. Standard office equipment includes computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems.
Physical Demands:
- The role requires regular communication, sitting, standing, walking, and the use of hands for handling or feeling objects.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with expected hours of 40 per week and some required overtime.
Travel:
- No travel is expected for this position.
