Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Study Abroad Counselor role based in Surat. The Study Abroad Counselor will guide students through the entire overseas education process, including understanding their academic background, career aspirations, and destination preferences. Daily tasks include counseling students and families, recommending suitable courses and universities, supporting application preparation, and coordinating document submission. The role involves assisting with visa documentation, preparing students for interviews, and conducting pre-departure briefings. The counselor will maintain regular communication with students, track application progress, liaise with university representatives, and contribute to seminars, events, and outreach activities to promote study abroad opportunities.
Qualifications
- Strong student counseling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand individual goals and provide clear, unbiased guidance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken and written English and the ability to interact confidently with students, families, and institutional partners.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple applications, deadlines, and documentation requirements efficiently.
- Basic knowledge of international education systems, admission requirements, and visa procedures for countries such as Australia, Canada, the UK, the USA, Ireland, and the UAE (training can be provided).
- Comfort with digital tools and CRM or student management systems to maintain records, track applications, and report outcomes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a target-driven environment, with attention to detail and a commitment to ethical, transparent counseling.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a background in education, counseling, or international studies is an advantage.
- Prior experience in overseas education counseling, admissions, or a related customer-facing role is preferred but not mandatory.
