Studio / Product Development Intern (Part-time / Freelance)
Mumbai | Fashion Start-Up
We are a Mumbai-based womenswear start-up creating western-wear and party-wear.
We are looking for a Studio & Product Development Intern to support the day-to-day running of the studio.
This role is ideal for fashion students who want hands-on insight into how a fashion brand operates at a start-up stage, particularly in product development and production. Please note this is not a design-heavy role, however some designing opportunities can be included later on.
Responsibilities
- Organising and cataloguing samples
- Assisting with tech pack updates
- Creating basic CADs in Adobe Illustrator
- Assisting with local sourcing of fabrics and trims
- Managing sample pickups and drop-offs with local tailors and suppliers
- Supporting during photoshoots
- Assisting with basic administrative tasks (updating spreadsheets, tracking samples, etc.)
- General studio support during development and sampling stages
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Interest in product development and garment construction
- Basic knowledge of patterns, with ability to trace patterns and cut fabric
- Prior knowledge of local vendors and sourcing markets in Mumbai
- Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Based in Bandra / Khar / Santacruz / Juhu or with good transportation links
Bonus Skills (Not Required)
- Ability to make a first sample / toile
Schedule
- 1–2 days per week (can be split into half days)
- Flexible scheduling (can work around classes or semester breaks)
- Work on Saturdays can be considered depending on the candidate’s schedule
- Occasional weekend visits to trade shows or markets may be required
Additional Information
- This is an on-site role, with travel across Mumbai for sourcing, pickups, and research as needed
Compensation
- This is a paid opportunity
- Compensation is calculated on an hourly basis, derived from a full-time intern salary benchmark of ₹25,000 – ₹30,000 per month (40 hours/week), depending on skillset and availability
