Role Description The Student Volunteer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai during the festival period and its preparatory phase. Volunteers assist with event setup, coordination of activities, and guidance for attendees across various festival zones. Day-to-day tasks may include registration support, crowd assistance, information desk service, and helping organizers with logistics such as materials, signage, and scheduling. Volunteers also contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, ensuring smooth flow of events and responding to attendee questions or needs. This role offers exposure to event management, teamwork, and community service in a dynamic, youth-centered setting.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and local languages, and to interact respectfully with diverse groups of people.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with organizers and fellow volunteers.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to follow instructions and handle multiple tasks during busy periods.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and supporting event operations.
- Interest in community service, youth engagement, or event management; prior volunteer or student leadership experience is beneficial.
- Willingness to be on-site in Chennai for the required duration, including possible evening or weekend hours.
- Ability to stand or move around for extended periods and assist with light physical tasks related to event setup and coordination.
