Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, qualified, and student-focused professional for the role of
Student Mentor & Counsellor. The ideal candidate should have a
Psychology background with experience in counselling, mentoring, and student support services. The role focuses on promoting students’ mental wellness, personal development, and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one counselling and guidance to students for academic, emotional, behavioural, and personal concerns
- Mentor students to improve confidence, communication, time management, and goal setting
- Identify students facing stress, anxiety, adjustment issues, or emotional challenges and provide timely support
- Conduct workshops on mental health awareness, stress management, motivation, and life skills
- Support students in crisis situations and refer cases to external professionals when required
- Maintain confidential counselling records and case documentation
- Coordinate with faculty, parents, and administration for student welfare initiatives when appropriate
- Develop mentoring programs for student engagement, retention, and overall development
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive campus environment
Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s Degree in Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Applied Psychology
- Strong academic background with relevant counselling exposure
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in student counselling / mentoring / academic institutions preferred
- Certification in counselling, psychotherapy, or student wellness will be an added advantage
Preferred Skills
- Strong interpersonal and empathetic listening skills
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism
- Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
- Knowledge of adolescent and young adult behavioural psychology
- Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
- Workshop facilitation and student engagement capabilities
Additional Requirement
- Experience in higher education institutions preferred
- Immediate joiners will be given preference
