With over 300+ students guided—including 50+ through intensive 1-on-1 personalized programs—THE STRATEGIC MENTOR emphasizes individual, tailored support at minimal or no cost. Backed by an extensive network of mentors and alumni from leading institutes (IITs, NITs, BIT), TSM equips engineering students with practical, battle-tested strategies to maximize their 4-year college journey, align their academic paths, and achieve their long-term career goals.
Role Description
The Student Mentor role is a dedicated position based in the Dhanbad–Ranchi area. As a Student Mentor, you will provide personalized 1-on-1 and small-group guidance to B.Tech students and aspirants—helping them navigate academic planning, college choice filling, entrance preparation, and essential skill development.
Daily Responsibilities & Key Activities:
- Conduct 1-on-1 and small-group mentoring sessions for engineering freshers and aspirants.
- Track mentee academic progress and craft structured 4-year growth and study plans.
- Offer practical, real-world advice on navigating campus life, examinations, and off-campus career opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior mentors, alumni, and industry leaders to organize interactive webinars, workshops, and counselling sessions.
- Maintain clear progress records and communicate effectively with mentees and their families.
- Uphold an empathetic, professional, and non-discriminatory environment that inspires students to pursue their ambitions confidently.
Qualifications
- Mentoring & Counselling Skills: Strong active listening skills, empathy, and the capacity to deliver personalized, actionable advice to diverse student backgrounds.
- Domain & Admissions Knowledge: Solid understanding of engineering admissions processes (JCECE/JEE), B.Tech curricula, and academic planning for institutes such as BIT Sindri, GEC Palamu, UCET Hazaribagh, IITs, and NITs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and relevant regional languages, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and motivate students.
- Organizational & Time Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple mentees, maintain accurate progress documentation, and deliver sessions consistently.
- Digital Competency: Comfort with basic digital tools for scheduling, record-keeping, and online communication (e.g., Google Spreadsheets, messaging platforms, and video conferencing tools).
- Educational Background: Background in engineering or education (current senior student, graduate, or young professional) is highly beneficial, especially with prior teaching, mentoring, or campus leadership experience.
