Role Description The Student Counsellor role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Kolkata Area. The counsellor provides one-on-one guidance to students and families on academic pathways, entrance requirements, and study-abroad options, helping them select suitable courses, institutions, and destinations. Daily responsibilities include conducting counselling sessions, responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in person, and maintaining accurate records of student interactions and application progress. The role involves coordinating with internal teams and external partners, supporting documentation and application processes, and delivering informative sessions or workshops on education and immigration topics. The counsellor is expected to build trust with students, follow up proactively, and meet defined service and performance targets while maintaining high ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong student counselling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand student goals and recommend appropriate academic and overseas education options.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including clear spoken and written English, active listening, and confidence in conducting in-person sessions.
- Organizational and administrative skills, such as maintaining student records, tracking applications, and managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of international education systems, admission processes, and visa or immigration requirements (experience with study-abroad counselling is an advantage).
- Proficiency with computers and common office tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, CRM or student management systems).
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Kolkata Area, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and achieve individual and team targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a background in education, psychology, counselling, or related fields is preferred.
- Prior experience in education consultancy, student counselling, or customer-facing roles is beneficial but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates.
