Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Student Counsellor role based at the VIT campus in Katpadi. The Student Counsellor will provide individual and group counselling to support students’ academic, personal, and emotional well-being. The role involves conducting regular counselling sessions, maintaining confidential case records, and developing action plans in collaboration with faculty, mentors, and administrative staff. The Student Counsellor will offer guidance on academic choices, stress management, and career pathways, and will refer students to specialist services when needed. Responsibilities also include organizing workshops and awareness programs on mental health and life skills, contributing to orientation activities, and supporting crisis intervention efforts in line with institutional policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Student Counseling, with experience supporting learners’ academic, emotional, and personal development.
- Proficiency in Career Counseling to guide students on educational pathways, employability skills, and long-term career planning.
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to interact empathetically and professionally with students, families, faculty, and staff.
- Background in Education or related fields, with the ability to understand academic structures, student support systems, and institutional policies.
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Education, or a closely related discipline preferred.
- Training in student mental health, crisis intervention, or counselling methodologies is an advantage.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to professional ethical guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse campus environment.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of regional languages will be an added benefit.
