Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Student Admission Counselor based in Kanpur. The Student Admission Counselor will guide prospective students through the end-to-end admission journey, from initial inquiry to program selection and enrollment. Responsibilities include explaining course options, fees, eligibility criteria, and university accreditations in a clear and honest manner. The role involves conducting one-on-one counseling sessions (in-person and over phone/video), understanding students’ backgrounds and career goals, and recommending suitable online and distance degree programs. The counselor will follow up with leads, maintain accurate records of interactions, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure a smooth admission process without pressure or false claims.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Communication skills to build trust, actively listen, and clearly explain complex information to diverse students and families.
- Customer Service and Sales abilities to handle inquiries professionally, manage objections, and support students in making confident, informed enrollment decisions.
- Understanding of Education systems, especially online and distance learning programs, including awareness of accreditation (UGC, NAAC) and admission processes.
- Relevant experience in counseling, admissions, career guidance, or education services is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; degrees in Education, Counseling, or related fields are an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Kanpur, manage multiple leads, and maintain organized documentation and follow-ups.
- Proficiency with basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, CRM or lead management systems) and comfort with phone and video-based counseling.
- Ethical, student-first mindset with a commitment to transparency, accuracy, and long-term career impact for students.
