About the role
Structural Integrity Associates (SIA) is seeking an Executive Director, Nuclear Materials & Analytical Services to lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering organization supporting the commercial nuclear operating fleet through integrated engineering, inspection, monitoring, software, and analytical services.The position can be remote or onsite at any one of our office locationsThis role is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, technical direction, and continued growth of SIA’s Materials and Analytical Services organization. The organization supports nuclear utilities through engineering programs associated with structural integrity, materials degradation, fatigue, fracture mechanics, finite element analysis (FEA), probabilistic analysis, inspection and monitoring technologies, nondestructive examination (NDE), aging management, software-enabled engineering solutions, and long-term asset reliability programs.The Executive Director will lead a highly technical and collaborative organization responsible for helping clients manage aging infrastructure, resolve emergent plant issues, support long-term operation, improve reliability, and execute complex engineering and inspection programs across the operating nuclear fleet.This role requires strong operational leadership combined with technical credibility and business acumen. The successful candidate will oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams, support strategic client relationships, drive project execution excellence, develop organizational capabilities, and strengthen integration across technical disciplines including analytical engineering, software solutions, inspection & NDE, vibration, chemistry, materials, and digital technologies.The work environment within SIA is highly collaborative and team-oriented, with strong crossover between engineering disciplines to provide integrated solutions that improve safety, reliability, plant performance, and long-term asset management across the nuclear industry.Primary Responsibilities: - Lead the Nuclear Materials & Analytical Services organization, including technical, operational, financial, and strategic performance
- Provide leadership and oversight for engineering programs involving:
- Structural integrity and fitness-for-service evaluations
- Fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis
- Finite element analysis (FEA)
- Probabilistic fracture mechanics (PFM)
- Materials degradation and aging management
- Inspection and monitoring programs
- Software-enabled engineering and digital solutions
- Reactor vessel internals
- Long-term operations and asset reliability programs
- Drive integration across engineering, structural, inspection, software, monitoring, and analytical disciplines to provide comprehensive client solutions
- Support utilities in addressing emergent plant conditions, long-term operation challenges, regulatory commitments, and reliability initiatives
- Provide executive oversight for large, complex, and high-visibility engineering projects and client programs
- Strengthen project execution, operational consistency, resource planning, and quality across multidisciplinary technical teams
- Lead organizational development initiatives including recruiting, mentorship, succession planning, and staff development
- Foster a high-accountability, collaborative culture focused on technical excellence, responsiveness, and client partnership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with utility leadership, engineering organizations, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Support strategic growth initiatives through client engagement, proposal development, conference participation, and cross-functional business development
- Collaborate across SI Engineering Services technical groups to expand integrated service offerings and bundled client solutions
- Support development and deployment of software tools, digital engineering technologies, predictive analytics, and data-driven engineering approaches
- Participate in industry organizations, technical committees, and standards initiatives supporting operating fleet reliability and long-term operation
Required Skills/Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry, including utility, consulting, OEM, engineering services, or related technical organizations
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience managing engineering organizations, technical programs, or multidisciplinary technical teams
- Strong background in operating fleet engineering programs, structural integrity, analytical engineering, materials performance, inspection technologies, or related disciplines
- Experience managing large engineering projects, technical organizations, and client-facing consulting programs
- Strong understanding of nuclear utility operations, regulatory environments, engineering programs, and long-term operational challenges
- Proven leadership in staff development, organizational scaling, and operational execution
- Strong communication, collaboration, and client relationship management skills
- Excellent business acumen including forecasting, utilization management, operational planning, and strategic growth
- Ability to travel (~15–30%) to support client meetings, conferences, project execution, and leadership activities
Desired Skills/Qualifications:- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering or related field preferred
- Experience with ASME Code, NRC regulatory programs, license renewal (LR/SLR), aging management, or risk-informed methodologies
- Active participation in industry organizations such as ASME, ANS, EPRI, NEI, or NRC working groups
- Experience supporting advanced reactors, SMRs, DOE programs, or emerging nuclear technologies
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools, predictive analytics, AI-enabled applications, or software-based engineering solutions
- Experience scaling engineering organizations during periods of significant industry growth
- Demonstrated success managing large technical programs and strategic customer relationships across multiple sites or organization
The expected salary range for this role is $150,000 - $215,000.
