Structural CAD Drafter:Job Description:
The successful applicant will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, plans, and specifications for structural projects, collaborating closely with structural engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that designs are accurate, efficient, and comply with company standards. The role requires proficiency in drafting software (AutoCAD-2D), attention to detail, and a strong understanding of structural principles.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering:
· Certified training in CAD software is a must.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop detailed 2D structural drawings and layouts based on Engineer and Architect specifications using AutoCAD software.
· Work closely with structural engineers to interpret design concepts and execute them into detailed plans.
· Revise and update drawings based on feedback/markups and project changes.
· Ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings before submission and meet deadlines.
· Capable of managing/working on multiple projects and documents effectively.
Work Experience and Knowledge:
2+ years of experience in working for a design firm with:
· Minimum 2 years of experience in structural drafting or a related field.
· Basic computer skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc)
· Ability to take direction from a project manager.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced and deadline driven environment. Unafraid to ask questions. Willing to help support, train, and coordinate your efforts with both your team and the Project Manager.
· Ability to draw, backcheck and be observant to create high quality construction documents to
company standards.
Skills:
· Fluent in the English language with excellent verbal and written communications skills
· Ability to work independently on projects and coordinate with other team members.
Preferred Skills:
· Basic knowledge of various structural systems (wood, steel, masonry, concrete, etc) and
components.
· Experience in reading structural & architectural drawings or “blueprints”.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, and Knowledge of Revit will be an added advantage.
Work Schedule:
· 40+ hour work week typically Monday through Friday [11am to 8pm]
· Occasional evening, early morning and weekend work is required
