Role Description
We are looking for a Street Vending Plan Expert to work on the preparation and implementation of City Street Vending Plans (CSVP) in line with the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014.
This is a full-time, on-site role, involving a combination of fieldwork, GIS-based planning, data analysis, and stakeholder coordination. The candidate will play a key role in integrating livelihood planning with urban infrastructure and mobility systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and support City Street Vending Plans (CSVP)
- Conduct and supervise field surveys (vendor enumeration, GPS mapping, documentation)
- Perform GIS-based spatial analysis using QGIS / ArcGIS
Identify:
- Vending Zones
- Restricted Zones
- No-Vending Zones
- Conduct holding capacity assessments (road width, pedestrian flow, traffic conditions)
- Analyze socio-economic data and develop structured vendor databases
- Coordinate with:
- Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)
- Town Vending Committee (TVC)
- Field teams and stakeholders
- Prepare reports, maps, and planning documents
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and planning guidelines
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in: Urban Planning, Development Studies, Architecture / Civil Engineering (with planning exposure)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in: Urban planning / development projects, Field-based surveys and data analysis, Government / ULB assignments
Skills Required
- Proficiency in GIS tools (QGIS / ArcGIS)
- Strong data analysis and MIS handling (Excel, databases)
- Understanding of: Urban mobility, Street design and infrastructure planning, Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to manage field teams and timelines effectively
Preferred Profile
- Experience in Street Vending Plan / informal sector planning
- Exposure to TVC processes or vendor surveys
- Working knowledge of Gujarati (preferred for field coordination)
