What are the responsibilities of a Media Analyst?

One crucial area distinguishing Streem from other media monitoring providers is our commitment to analytical excellence.

As a Media Analyst, you would work as part of the Insights team to curate bespoke, one-off or regular reports for our Clients. Our reports offer valuable information to shape communication strategies and measure performance, meaning that they are often shared with C-suite executives and Board members. As a result, the work you would complete as a Media Analyst would be a consultative and premium service at Streem, working with our most senior clients.

As a Media Analyst at Streem, you would be responsible for:

  • Analysing sentiment and trends by reading, rating, and synthesising key findings from media coverage;
  • Constructing Boolean queries to establish reports and refine data searches;
  • Creating and updating charts with data visualisation tools to represent significant data;
  • Writing key Insights and Executive Summaries, distilling findings into concise points appropriate for C-Suite level consumption and interpretation;
  • Sending reports to clients, and presenting research findings from time to time;
  • Training and mentoring new team members, as well as participating in team activities, e.g. Report Retrospective meetings;
  • Liaising internally with Engineering & Product teams to provide feedback and suggestions, as well as Account Management & Sales to deliver Streem’s services;
  • Other duties as determined by Streem from time to time.

What is required to succeed as a Media Analyst?

Qualifications

There are a few qualifications, skills, and demonstrated experience levels that are necessary in setting yourself up for success in this role:

  • You have completed a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Media, Communications, or Journalism;
  • You are able to demonstrate at least 2 years of experience in a role with similar accountabilities;
  • You are proactive and enjoy working effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • You possess a keen interest and understanding of the Australian media landscape, and you are confident applying this knowledge to inform your insights;
  • You have a positive, can-do, and energetic attitude towards learning new skills and tackling challenging tasks;
  • You are able to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines with a sharp attention to detail, and clear communication, both written and verbal;
  • You can think critically to interpret numbers, trends and data to synthesise key findings.
