Position Overview
The Strategic Sourcing role is responsible for developing and managing the supplier network for critical electrical, mechanical, and industrial components used across Brick & Byte projects and manufacturing operations.
This role requires strong commercial acumen, vendor development capabilities, negotiation skills, technical understanding, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, projects, and leadership teams.
The ideal candidate understands that sourcing is not just about getting the lowest price — it is about reliability, scalability, compliance, lead-time management, quality assurance, and long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for electrical and industrial products
- Build strategic vendor partnerships for:
- Switchgear
- Busbar systems
- Copper & aluminum components
- Sheet metal & fabrication
- BESS components
- Cooling systems
- Automation & controls
- Wiring accessories
- Power electronics
- Develop alternate sourcing strategies to reduce supply chain risk
- Maintain and improve approved vendor lists (AVL)
Commercial & Procurement Management
- Lead RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation, and negotiation processes
- Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality or compliance
- Analyze pricing trends, raw material fluctuations, and supply risks
- Negotiate contracts, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service agreements
- Coordinate annual rate contracts and framework agreements
Supplier Performance Management
- Monitor supplier KPIs:
- Quality
- On-time delivery
- Responsiveness
- Commercial competitiveness
- Conduct supplier audits and review meetings
- Resolve supplier-related escalations and delivery bottlenecks
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Design & engineering teams
- Production
- Planning
- Projects
- QA/QC
- Sales
- Support sourcing activities for new product development and custom projects
- Align sourcing strategy with project timelines and business growth plans
Market Intelligence & Risk Management
- Track market trends, component shortages, geopolitical risks, and logistics challenges
- Identify opportunities for localization and import substitution
- Build contingency sourcing plans for critical components
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Supply Chain Management
- Operations
- or related field
Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in:
- Strategic sourcing
- Procurement
- Supply chain
- Vendor development
- Experience in electrical industry, panel manufacturing, industrial automation, EPC, or energy sector preferred
Technical Understanding Preferred
- LV/MV switchgear systems
- IEC / UL standards
- Electrical panels & control systems
