Role: Strategic Consultant - Retail Operations & Supply Chain (Toys Industry)
This role is designed for a high-level expert who will act as the Chief of Staff for Retail Operations, working directly with the CEO Office to build premium flagship brand and presence for "Adhira &
Appa Toys" from ground up.
A) Job Overview:
Role: Strategic Consultant (Retail, Supply Chain, and Compliance)
Reporting to: CEO
Location: India (Remote with travel requirements). Preferably Hyderabad & Mumbai
Objective: To architect the end-to-end operational framework for a premium multi-brand toy retail outlet, securing high-tier supply partnerships and ensuring 100% regulatory compliance.
B) Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Network building
Super Stockists Identification: Identify and vet Tier-1 super stockiest and distributors for major global brands (e.g., Lego, Mattel, Hasbro) and premium Indian manufacturers.
Direct Partnerships: Facilitate introductions and negotiate terms with large scale manufacturers to ensure "Adhira and Appa Toys" receives priority inventory and competitive margins.
Product Curation: Assist the CEO in selecting a premium product mix that aligns with a high-end boutique retail experience.
2. Regulatory and Legal Compliance:
Licensing: Oversee the application and procurement of all necessary permits, including Shop & Establishment licenses, Trade Licenses, and GST registrations.
BIS Compliance: Ensure all imported and locally sourced toys strictly adhere to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) norms and the Toys (Quality Control) order
Statutory Filings: Manage the documentation required for retail operations, including labor law compliance's and fire safety certifications.
3. Retail Infrastructure & Operations:
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's): Draft comprehensive SOP's for inventory management, stock aging, returns/damages, and store-level customer service.
Supply Chain Design: Establish the logistics pipeline from super stockiest to the retails floor, including warehousing solutions if required.
Technology Integration: Advise on POS (Point of Sale) and ERP systems tailored for high SKU toy retail.
C) Required Qualifications & Skills:
Industry Experience: Minimum 10-12 years in the Indian retail sector, specifically within Toys, Baby Care, or Premium Lifestyle brands.
The "Rolodex" Factor: Proven existing relationships with major toy distributors and manufacturers in India.
Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of the FSSAI (if any confectionery is sold) and BIS Certification landscape for toys.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Experience in "Zero-to-One" setups, someone who can pivot between high-level strategy and granular paperwork.
Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills to secure favorable credit periods and exclusive distribution rights.
