Position SummaryStrategic Communications Specialist is a deeply hands on leadership role responsible for driving rigour across organisational communications and client work. You will lead Kaboom’s communications strategy while designing and delivering strategic communications and SBCC frameworks across key programmes.
This role sits at the intersection of organisational growth, reputation, and high quality strategic work. It is for someone who has led complex SBCC initiatives, worked closely with government and sector stakeholders, and can translate organisational and programme priorities into clear, actionable strategies. The work includes writing SBCC strategies for large programmes, leading senior client and government engagements, and maintaining high standards across all outputs.
Key Responsibilities• Develop and execute Kaboom’s organisation wide communications and visibility strategy linked to growth and positioning.
• Lead, write, and deliver SBCC and strategic communications frameworks for large, multi stakeholder programmes.
• Stay hands on in client engagements, from problem definition to strategy development, presentations, and revisions.
• Work directly with government, donors, and sector partners to build trust and long term relationships.
• Drive Kaboom’s thought leadership and visibility through networks, platforms, and partnerships.
• Set and uphold high standards of rigour, clarity, and strategic quality across projects.
What We Are Looking For• 8 to 10 years of experience in strategic communications and SBCC with proven delivery on large scale programmes.
• Experience leading communications for organisations, not only individual campaigns or brands.
• Strong experience working with government systems, donors, and sector institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to write and lead SBCC strategies end to end.
• A well established network across government, development, and allied sectors.
•Proven ability to design and deliver capacity building initiatives, including structured communications training and strengthening institutional communications teams.
• Confidence leading senior stakeholder conversations and holding ground when required.
• Strong strategic judgement with a bias for action, detail, and follow through.
• Experience in consulting, public affairs, brand strategy, or social impact communications is an advantage.
