Strategic Account Manager ( Key Account Manager )
📍 Location: Hyderabad
Role Overview
The Strategic Account Manager – Govt/Reimbursement drives budget achievement by maximizing business opportunities across Government and Reimbursement accounts for Pfizer’s biopharma portfolio. The role manages institutional account performance, builds key stakeholder relationships, and works cross‑functionally to deliver growth through tenders, formularies, and innovative asset access.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth
- Develop short-, mid-, and long‑term strategic plans for Govt/Reimbursement institutional business in the territory.
- Analyze policy, macroeconomic, and industry trends to identify and unlock sales opportunities.
- Drive formulary inclusion, therapy shaping, tender participation, and early access for innovative assets.
- Maximize growth through new SKUs, recovery of lost business, and established portfolios.
- Lead initiatives with State Governments, NHM, CARE, and similar institutions.
Account Management & Operations
Candidates should have an exposure of handling all govt accounts like ESI, Army, CGHS, Railways, State Govt & PSU’s (public sector units)
- The candidate should have a good understanding of government processes and how these institutions function.
- Manage prioritized Govt/Reimbursement accounts to deliver agreed business objectives.
- Coordinate tenders, rate enquiries, bid meetings, price negotiations, and rate contracts.
- Oversee purchase orders, supply coordination, documentation, and acceptance processes.
- Monitor account performance across value, volume, profitability, and market share.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, ethics, and governance standards.
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with government bodies, administrators, procurement teams, and KOLs.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Supply Chain, Legal, and Distribution teams.
- Provide account insights, competitor intelligence, and customer feedback to drive strategy.
Financial Accountability
- Deliver sales budgets for Govt/Reimbursement accounts in the territory.
- Optimize resource allocation and ensure timely payment realization with minimal outstanding dues.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical experience (sales, marketing, operations, or account management).
- Experience in Govt/Reimbursement Key Accounts or Sales Leadership preferred.
- BA/BSc required; MBA preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- High learning agility and ability to manage ambiguity.
