Position

The role

We are seeking a talented full stack engineer to join our new AI Innovation Lab team. The team is split between Bulgaria and the UK.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side architecture for AI-powered applications, with a focus on vector databases and Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based AI/ML services. You will also be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge AI-powered web applications using React and integrating with AWS AI/ML services. Working within our agile framework, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, front-end developers, and product owners to build robust, scalable back-end systems that power intelligent applications in rapid, iterative cycles.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable back-end architectures for AI applications using Python and AWS services
• Implement and optimize vector databases for efficient storage, retrieval, and similarity search of embeddings and high-dimensional data
• Build and maintain APIs that serve AI models and facilitate data flow between different components
• Design and develop responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces for AI applications using React (or similar)
• Build interactive data visualizations and dashboards to present complex AI insights
• Work within an agile development framework, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
• Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams including data scientists, ML engineers, product owners, and scrum masters
• Deploy and manage AI models in production environments using AWS Bedrock and other AWS AI/ML services
• Design and implement data pipelines for preprocessing, transformation, and feeding data to AI models
• Ensure high performance, security, and reliability of back-end systems
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment of back-end services
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices
• Document technical specifications and contribute to knowledge sharing
  
  

Requirements

Your skills and knowledge

• Full Stack Development: Proven experience building front end applications (e.g. using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and React) for users.
• AWS Experience: Experience building pipelines using AWS services (e.g. Lambda, ECS, ECR, S3, API Gateway, Lambda Functions, RDS, Vector Databases). Ideally AWS certified (e.g. Cloud Practitioner, Associate Level Developer, Professional Level DevOps Engineer).
• Databases and APIs: Understanding and experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL. Experience designing and building APIs.
• DevOps Skills: Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD principles, automated testing, and version control systems (Git).
• Understanding of AI concepts: Understanding and knowledge of core concepts in Generative AI and Machine Learning, preferably via Python.
• Agile and Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and experience working in agile environments (Scrum, Kanban). Able to create clear documentation for others.
• Team Player and Growth Mindset: Willing to proactively help other engineers / developers and continuously improve applications from user feedback.

t is desirable that you are degree educated in in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or in a quantitative subject.
