Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Fashion Designer role based in the Greater Kolkata Area. The Fashion Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing apparel collections, creating sketches and technical drawings, and selecting appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments. The role includes coordinating fittings, adjusting patterns and designs for proper fit, and collaborating with production, merchandising, and sourcing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective. The designer will research current fashion trends, textiles, and consumer preferences to inform seasonal collections and maintain brand relevance. Day-to-day responsibilities also include reviewing samples, providing feedback to vendors or in-house teams, and maintaining detailed documentation of designs, specifications, and timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong Fashion Design and Fashion skills, including concept development, sketching, and collection planning.
- Knowledge of Textiles, including fabric types, properties, and suitable applications for different garments.
- Proficiency in Fitting, with the ability to assess garment drape, comfort, and silhouette and make precise adjustments.
- Experience with Embroidery and related embellishment techniques for value addition and surface design.
- Relevant academic background, such as a diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD tools) for technical flats and presentations.
- Strong sense of color, pattern, and detail, with awareness of current fashion trends and market requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to fast-paced production timelines.
