Job Title: Backup Engineer (Veeam & Commvault)Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Backup Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Veeam and Commvault, along with a solid background in enterprise backup, data protection, and disaster recovery.

You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, integrity, and performance of backup systems across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Backup Administration:
• Design, implement, configure, and manage backup solutions using Veeam and Commvault.
• Monitoring & Issue Resolution:
• Proactively monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure high success rates.
• Restore & Disaster Recovery:
• Execute restore operations and support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Performance Optimization:
• Optimize backup jobs, retention policies, and storage utilization for performance and cost efficiency.
• Reporting & Analytics:
• Generate reports on backup health, SLA adherence, and failure trends.
• Advanced Troubleshooting:
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring issues.
• Documentation & Compliance:
• Maintain detailed documentation and ensure adherence to data protection policies and standards.
• Cross-Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to align backup strategies.
• Security & Governance:
• Ensure backup environments follow security best practices and compliance requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3–6 years of hands-on experience with Veeam and Commvault
• Strong understanding of backup architecture and recovery strategies
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments
• Knowledge of NAS, SAN, and cloud storage
• Solid understanding of disaster recovery (DR) concepts and testing
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
• Familiarity with enterprise environments and SLA-driven operations
• Good communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in Veeam and/or Commvault
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Exposure to hybrid backup environments
