About the role

Description

The Truss Builder is responsible for assembling wood roof and floor trusses according to engineered drawings and company standards. This role works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, structural integrity, and on-time delivery.


Key Responsibilities

Production & Assembly

  • Assemble roof and floor trusses using pre-cut lumber and metal connector plates 
  • Read and interpret truss design drawings, layouts, and cut sheets 
  • Position lumber accurately on assembly tables or jigs 
  • Operate truss-building equipment such as presses, rollers, and saws 
  • Ensure all plates are properly aligned and pressed to specifications Quality Control
  • Inspect materials and finished trusses for accuracy and defects 
  • Verify measurements and angles meet engineered specifications 
  • Identify and report inconsistencies or damaged materials 

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards 
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area 

Material Handling

  • Load, unload, and move lumber and trusses using forklifts or by hand 
  • Stack and store completed trusses safely 
  • Assist with inventory control and material tracking 

Teamwork & Efficiency

  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors 
  • Meet daily production goals 
  • Cross-train in other plant functions as needed 


Requirements

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred 

Experience in truss manufacturing, framing, carpentry, or construction preferred 

Ability to read a tape measure and basic blueprints 

Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools 

Forklift experience preferred or willingness to be trained 

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs (with assistance as needed) 

Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting 

Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (heat, cold, dust) 

Ability to stand for extended periods (8–10 hours) 

Work Environment

Manufacturing / warehouse setting 

Exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, and outdoor elements
