Available Paraprofessional Position
Location: Emma Smith Elementary 6.5 hours per day
Pay Rate: Per SMESPA Contract
Date(s): 25-26 School Year
Key Responsibilities:
- Support classroom teachers in implementing daily routines, lessons, and individualized instruction.
- Provide assistance to students with disabilities aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Support students with communication, behavioral, fine/gross motor, and sensory needs using positive and proactive strategies.
- Assist with personal care needs, which may include toileting and diapering.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for all children.
- Facilitate individual and small-group learning activities that build social and academic skills.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, and recess.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with young children and/or students with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive environment for all learners.
- Punctual, reliable and predictable attendance is required
