Core Purpose of Role

Stellarworld School seeks an inspiring physical education teacher who is responsible for learning about various sports as well as the importance of physical education in our daily lives. He/ she helps students grow in their enjoyment and appreciation of physical fitness classes that involve physical activities such as exercises and games. He/She is responsible for the preparation of classes through a variety of planned experiences and performs other duties directly related to this job description.

  • To plan, design and drive the Physical Education and Sports program in alignment with the IB curriculum framework and the school purpose and Ethos
  • Manage and use the sports facilities to make optimal use of the same
  • Maintain ,update and curate the Physical education and Sports inventory
  • Develop a Sports Programme to provide competitive and other sporting opportunities

Teacher Effectiveness: Teaching & Learning

The Teacher Should:

  • Contribute to the management, development of curriculum and production of units/schemes of work
  • Lead and coordinate core P.E across school
  • Become familiar, develop and refines curriculum based on PYP’s standards of creating, performing, and responding with the curriculum guidelines, and work towards their successful implementation
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behaviour to provide an orderly, productive environment
  • Decide and explain clear learning objectives in PE, and set appropriate assignments with an adequate time allocation
  • Present material in a clear, organized fashion
  • Stimulate interest in the subject matter
  • Design engagements at the appropriate level and encourage high student performance, consistent with ability
  • Use a variety of methods and available resources, aiming to meet the needs of the individual and the group
  • Encourage creative and critical thinking contributing towards fair play
  • Evaluates and records each student’s growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute.
  • Provide feedback that is designed to motivate the students
  • Contact parents through written reports and other formal and informal means, as required
  • Plan activities to broaden the experience of the learner, as appropriate
  • Plan Inquiry and lessons by following IB curriculum framework collaboratively with the PYP Head & Homeroom teachers
  • Identify and teach skills that will develop a pupils ability to work independently
  • Write and implement learning objectives that are challenging and measurable
  • Monitor, assess and report on learners’ work and progress
  • Maintain and enhance systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing P.E teaching
  • Communicate and collaborate with school faculty/staff on the progress of individual students.
  • Cooperation with Head of School and staff in providing programs for school assemblies and seasonal programs .
