About The Role

As Studio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the Mauritius studio. The responsibility encompasses a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring that the studio runs smoothly and efficiently. The Studio Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a structured environment where creativity can flourish.

Important: This position is on-site in Mauritius (with some flexibility offered). Only candidates who are currently residing in Mauritius will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Mauritius studio to ensure a productive and efficient work environment.
  • Support, mentor, and coach studio staff to promote a collaborative, team-focused culture.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain an accurate inventory of studio equipment and ensure new hires are set up for success.
  • Manage local financial transactions and report regularly to the Head of Operations in the US.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the Mauritius studio and US headquarters, representing the team's interests and helping to resolve operational challenges.
  • Handle vendor relationships, including negotiating contracts and pricing with service providers, office lease partners, and suppliers.
  • Address staff inquiries related to office management, such as equipment, supplies, and general facilities support.
  • Coordinate with facility vendors including cleaning, security, and catering services to ensure a well-maintained workspace.
  • Authorize payments and maintain organized records of receipts, inventory, and other key documentation.
  • Oversee payroll processing in partnership with HR/Finance to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
  • Represent Steamroller at local job fairs and events; coordinate promotional materials and event logistics.
  • Contribute to team efforts and perform additional tasks to support department and studio goals as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, office, or studio management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritius labor laws and employment standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a focus on team development.
  • Excellent communication skills in English—written and spoken.
  • Proactive and resourceful with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with business operations across Accounting, HR, Finance, Legal, and IT.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
