As a Social Security Liaison, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health of our hospital and the continuity of care for our patients. By accurately reviewing information and facilitating Social Security Administration (SSA) benefit applications, you help maintain the resources needed to provide high-quality, compassionate care to those we serve. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
- Manages Social Security-related matters.
- Ensures that necessary medical information is accurately conveyed to the Social Security Administration to maintain benefits or initiate new benefits.
- Report, in a timely manner, hospital stays that affect benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
- Manages outside billing processes, including submission through portals and clearinghouses.
- Complete and fax the necessary forms to the SSA to support disability claims.
- Confirm and verify all bills from outside providers for accuracy and hospital responsibility.
- Conducts patient interviews to determine benefit eligibility.
- Resolves problems and questions regarding work methods and processes presented by co-workers.
- Researches and analyzes data.
- Prepares, analyzes and interprets information and may carry out special studies.
- Maintains patient funds per established policy and procedures.
- Ensures statutory compliance by internal and external stakeholders.
Position Duties
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with Social Security Administration benefits and medical billing, account management, computers, and Microsoft software.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of Social Security Administration and procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician

Minimum Qualifications
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee may sit comfortably to perform work, however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, etc.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- A background check, including fingerprinting, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be completed on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
- A current Influenza Vaccination is required.
- The Wyoming State Hospital uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
- Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19.
