About the Department
Prepares, requisitions, purchase orders, and receipts using SCIES system. Secures parts/supplies needed by shop mechanics to repair/maintain equipment. Complies and maintains records of items received and issued. Ensures compliance with SCDOT specifications. Serves as liaison with vendors to ensure rapid and accurate supply transactions. Confirms with mechanics to ensure the correct parts/supplies are ordered. Initiates job sheets for repairs to equipment using Equipment Maintenance/Equipment Service Module System. Confirms accuracy of all paperwork, ensuring parts/supplies are charged to proper equipment. Checks mileages for assurance that the PM program stays in line with the mileage program. Maintains detailed inventory records of supplies and equipment on hand. Keeps accurate records of all materials, equipment received, inspects shipments, and reconciles packing slips or manifests with actual items. Maintains records of acquisition, transfer, and disposal of all equipment and vehicles for Allendale County. Performs periodic inventories according to SCDOT standards and prepares inventory reports. Maintains radio and telephone, taking requests for service on a daily basis during the Administrative Assistant's lunch break, as well as, during his/her absence for annual/sick leave. Performs administrative duties, posting, closing, and printing of mechanics time and entering into Highway Maintenance Management System. Works during inclement weather, as well as any other emergency situations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Duties
A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. This position requires working in an office environment, warehouse environment, and/or outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
