About Our Agency:
South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational experiences and strengthens communities, while working to create a stronger, more connected and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.
JOB PURPOSE:
This position leads the ongoing development, delivery, and growth of the South Carolina Emergency Information Network - a statewide, multi-platform emergency management and weather service delivered across the agency's television, radio, and digital platforms. Serves as the organization's lead weather authority and a key connector between weather operations, the news and public affairs teams, and public safety partners. Oversees and develops daily forecasting and weather features, severe weather coverage, and long-term strategy, while building partnerships. Partners with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division to ensure coordinated, accurate, and timely public communication during emergency and weather events.
JOB DUTIES:Weather Content Strategy ManagementStrengthen the existing vision for the SC Emergency Information Network {SCEIN}. Lead daily weather forecasting and content production across all platforms (TV, radio, digital, social); Work in close coordination with the news and public affairs teams to integrate weather coverage into daily newscasts and feature stories. Develop a recognizable and trusted "weather voice" for the network. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity of all weather information.
Emergency and Severe Weather ManagementWork with news and public affairs teams to coordinate messaging and multiplatform coverage during emergency weather events, ensuring timely and unified communication. Participate in emergency planning and response efforts as a media partner. Translate technical weather data into clear, actionable information for the public. Support preparedness-focused content that helps communities understand risks and respond effectively. Work with state and local county EMD partners to ensure information dissemination about the weather and emergency management.
Innovation and Partnership DevelopmentIdentify opportunities to expand reach of weather and emergency management content through new platforms, formats, and technologies. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to acquire resources, partnerships, and expanded brand recognition for the SCEIN initiative. Develop short- and long-term strategic plans aligned with organizational priorities. Lead innovation in how weather information is presented {interactive tools, explainers, audience engagement}. Work with Pre-K12 and postsecondary partners to support curriculum-aligned activities around weather and emergency management.

Position Duties
A bachelor's degree and experience in a professional television setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Highly proficient in meteorology, weather broadcasting, or related field. Knowledge of radio/television production techniques and the technical aspects of production and equipment. Demonstrated leadership experience in a newsroom or media environment. Experience working with or alongside emergency management or public safety entities. Ability to budget, negotiate, plan, develop proposals and schedule. Ability to assess, evaluate, guide and supervise subordinates. Ability to use independent judgement within established guidelines and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public. Ability to communicate orally, visually, and in writing. Knowledge of the use of emerging new technologies in broadcast.

Failure to provide official transcripts may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
