Role Overview
We are looking for a sharp, driven consultant to join the Scale-Up team in a dual capacity:
- Startup Scouting — Identify and evaluate high-potential startups in Agriculture, Clean Technology, and Plastics Waste Management for the Scale-Up Program.
- AI Integration — Lead the adoption of AI tools and practices within the MIF team and across the startup portfolio.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of innovation, technology, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
1) Startup Scouting & Evaluation
• Own the end-to-end scouting process - from research and outreach to evaluation, documentation and onboarding process.
• Identify disruptive, scalable startups in Agri, Clean Tech, and Plastics through desk research, ecosystem networking, events, and partnerships.
• Lead discovery meetings with startups - validate claims, ask incisive questions, and synthesize findings for internal review.
• Maintain a well-organized startup pipeline on the CRM tool, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
• Gather competitive intelligence and sector benchmarks to enrich internal discussions and decision-making.
• Build a structured document for each shortlisted startup, assessing innovativeness (scientific lens) and scalability (business lens) against Scale-Up Program criteria.
2) AI Integration & Enablement
• Assess the current workflows of the MIF team and portfolio startups to identify high-impact AI adoption opportunities.
• Recommend, pilot, and implement AI tools (e.g., for research, outreach, data analysis, reporting, and operations).
• Build the team's AI literacy through hands-on training, tool demonstrations, and practical use-case development.
• Support portfolio startups in integrating AI into their business operations — from identifying the right tools to guiding implementation.
• Stay current on the evolving AI landscape and proactively bring relevant innovations to the team.
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Based in Mumbai — this is a full-time, work-from-office role.
Experience
• 2–5 years of experience in startups, venture capital, accelerators, incubators, consulting, or innovation-focused roles.
• Demonstrated experience with AI tools and their practical application in a business or organizational context.
• Prior exposure to Agri, Clean Tech, or Sustainability sectors is a strong advantage.
Skills & Competencies
• Analytical thinking - ability to evaluate startups from both a scientific and commercial standpoint.

• AI fluency - hands-on familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Notion AI, automation platforms) and the ability to translate this into practical team enablement.
• Research & networking — strong ability to map ecosystems, identify key players, and build relationships quickly.
• Communication — excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to structure complex ideas clearly for diverse audiences.
• Execution mindset — self-starter who takes ownership, meets deadlines, and drives outcomes without constant supervision.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
