STARS Charter School is a K–8 public charter school serving students in Moore County, North Carolina. We are seeking a skilled, student-centered educator to support our arts program with a primary focus on technical theater and production support, along with teaching arts-based electives.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and execution of school performances. The ideal candidate is capable of managing the technical elements of productions (lighting, sound, staging, and coordination) while also teaching structured, engaging electives aligned to their strengths.

Position Overview
- Lead and support the technical aspects of school productions
- Teach arts electives across grades K–8 (based on candidate strengths)
- Collaborate with arts staff to ensure successful performances and programming
Responsibilities
- Oversee technical theater elements including lighting, sound, staging, and production setup
- Support planning and execution of school performances and events
- Train and manage students assisting with technical production roles when appropriate
- Plan and deliver engaging arts-based instruction aligned to student needs
- Maintain a structured, consistent classroom environment
- Collaborate with staff to support the school’s arts program
- Maintain lesson plans, grades, and required documentation
- Uphold school policies, expectations, and professional standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts, or a related field
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure)
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across instruction and production
- Willingness to support after-school or evening performances
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technical theater (lighting, sound, staging, production management)
- Experience teaching arts or elective courses
- Background in school or community theater productions
- Additional skills in areas such as dance, media arts, or technology integration
