As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be part of the Tools & Outdoor team working onsite in a high-mix, made-to-order manufacturing environment supporting MAC Tools and Vidmar products. This role is critical to driving operational transformation, manufacturing engineering excellence, and sustainable performance improvement across fabrication, weld, paint, assembly, and material flow operations.
THE JOB:
You’ll lead the development and execution of manufacturing engineering strategies that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, lead-time, capacity, and employee engagement while supporting the division’s overall market-driven business strategy.
• Lead manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication, paint, weld, assembly, and shipping operations.
• Drive rapid and sustainable improvement in on-time delivery, throughput, lead-time, schedule adherence, and operational flow.
• Lead bottleneck analysis, capacity optimization, labor balancing, setup reduction, and flow improvements within a high-mix / low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Develop and sustain manufacturing systems including routings, BOM accuracy, labor standards, process documentation, standard work, and ERP manufacturing data integrity.
• Drive implementation and sustainment of Daily Management Systems (DMS), SQDCP metrics, visual management, Tier accountability processes, and structured problem-solving routines.
• Lead and coach engineering and technical teams while building frontline capability, accountability, urgency, and engagement throughout the operation.
• Partner closely with Operations, Materials, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Commercial teams to align customer demand with manufacturing capability and operational priorities.
• Support and influence S&OP processes through capacity planning, operational readiness, inventory optimization, and manufacturing constraint management.
• Lead capital expenditure projects, manufacturing technology improvements, automation initiatives, and facility optimization projects while ensuring execution to budget and timeline commitments.
• Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement culture through kaizen activities, waste elimination, root cause problem solving, and operational discipline.
• Improve equipment capability and operational reliability in partnership with Maintenance and Reliability teams through OEE improvement, PM optimization, and downtime reduction initiatives.
• Champion safety through risk reduction, ergonomic improvements, machine safeguarding, LOTO discipline, and proactive hazard identification.
• Lead manufacturing transformation efforts focused on stabilizing operations, improving employee engagement, and building scalable systems that deliver long-term operational excellence.
THE PERSON:
You are a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and enjoys solving complex manufacturing and organizational challenges. You are passionate about building systems, developing people, and creating sustainable operational excellence through strong leadership presence and disciplined execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required; MBA, PMP, or Lean certification preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, operations, or industrial engineering leadership experience with demonstrated results in operational performance improvement and team development.
• Strong experience in Lean manufacturing systems, continuous improvement, Daily Management Systems, and structured problem solving.
• Experience in metal fabrication, welding, powder coating/paint systems, and assembly operations preferred.
• Experience in high-mix / low-volume or made-to-order manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, capacity analysis, labor standards, process flow optimization, and ERP manufacturing systems.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence organizational change, and drive accountability throughout all levels of the operation.
• Strong floor leadership presence with the ability to connect strategy to frontline execution.
• Demonstrated experience leading operational transformation, culture improvement, and manufacturing system stabilization efforts preferred.

The Salary range for this position is $110,600.00 - $178,000.00

This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements. Please note that salary is only one component of total rewards at Stanley Black & Decker.
