About the role

The Colorist / Merchandiser – Product Development is responsible for managing end-to-end colour development and approval processes across fabrics, garments, and trims. The role ensures accurate colour execution from concept to bulk production through close collaboration with suppliers, quality teams, and headquarters, while maintaining data integrity, timelines, and quality standards. 1. Colour Development
  • Manage new color development, including clear communication, lab dip review, and approval.
  • Create and manage color reflectance values and QTX files; distribute to suppliers and HQ.
  • Define and share color depth standards and quadrant sets with suppliers and HQ.
  • Share approved lab dip recipes with suppliers to ensure consistency.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for garment-dyed new color development.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate color measurement equipment to ensure accurate data.
2. Mini Bulk Management
  • Review and approve mini bulks based on visual assessment, color data, and fabric quality, following established checklists.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Mini Bulk Master File.
  • Provide clear comments, approvals, and signed copies to suppliers.
  • Maintain hard copy and digital filing systems for all mini bulk approvals.
3. Bulk Shade Management
  • Coordinate with the Quality team to replace expired mini bulk standards with updated references and manage renewal timelines.
  • Perform first bulk shade cross-checks using color data systems upon request from QC or suppliers.
4. Trims & Accessories Development
  • Manage development and approval of labels, packaging, and finishing accessories in collaboration with suppliers and HQ.
  • Review trim cards received from factories, complete approval checks, and issue signed approvals.
5. Communication & Coordination
  • Liaise with factories on lab dips, fabric quality, trims, and mini bulk processes.
  • Ensure timely, clear, and professional communication across internal and external stakeholders.
6. Parcel & Sample Management
  • Arrange dispatch of lab dips, mini bulks, and accessories to HQ.
  • Track parcels to ensure on-time delivery and proper documentation.
7. Additional Responsibilities
  • Support special projects and tasks assigned by the line manager as required.
  • Educational background in Textiles 
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in color development 
  • Strong understanding of color science and color performance across fabrics
Competencies
  • Excellent product knowledge, particularly fabric-color interaction
  • Strong analytical, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy
  • Strong teamwork mindset and ability to work collaboratively
Flexible working attitude with the ability to manage pressure and multiple priorities
