SCOPE OF WORK: The Fitness Technician will assist in the planning and implementation of a community-based approach to fitness and diabetes prevention; educate individuals in living a more active lifestyle, in order to prevent diabetes and its complications.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain records of client referrals, encounter forms, exercise plans, call log, client follow-up and submit timely monthly reports as required.
- Maintaining safe exercise environment; enforce safety rules for equipment usage in accordance with fitness center policy and procedure.
- Maintain fitness equipment and the facilities in clean working order.
- Report needed maintenance on all fitness equipment; submit work orders for maintenance and IT Department.
- Assist in developing individual or group fitness plans for clients with special needs.
- Provide instruction on low or high impact aerobics and anaerobic exercises during community exercise classes in Standing Rock Districts.
- Conduct blood glucose and blood pressure checks during program outreach activities, or health screening events.
- Coordinate activities with the Diabetes Team, other programs, and schools.
- Perform other tasks associated within the Scope of Work of the Standing Rock Diabetes Project Grant goals and objectives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-Year degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Nursing, or similar area
- Valid driver’s license
SHIFT: 10:30am – 7:00pm
TESTING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
Tribal, State, and Federal background investigation and MVR screening required.
HIRING PREFERENCES:
Qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe will receive Native American preference.
Qualified applicants will receive Veteran’s Preference with submission of proof of honorable military service (e.g., DD-214).
