About the role

SCOPE OF WORK: The Driver and Facilities Support Staff member is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation for Early Childhood Program participants and supporting the overall safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of program facilities and vehicles. This role ensures a secure, well-maintained environment for children, families, and staff while assisting with logistical and operational needs of the program.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Transportation Services

  • Provide safe, timely transportation for program participants and families to and from scheduled appointments, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other services as assigned by the Director.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transport.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving practices under all conditions.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle condition.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
  • Accompany participants as needed and remain available during appointments when required.


Facilities and Grounds Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment within program buildings and surrounding grounds.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including vacuuming carpets and maintaining common areas.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors, in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing lawns, removing debris, and shoveling snow from walkways and entrances.
  • Identify maintenance needs and complete minor repairs in a timely manner; report major issues to the Director.


Inventory and Safety Compliance

  • Order and maintain adequate inventory of janitorial and maintenance supplies.
  • Develop and maintain an organized inventory tracking system and procedures.
  • Conduct weekly checks of smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, maintaining documentation to ensure compliance and readiness.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license


SHIFT: Generally daytime hours with occasional evening or overnight travel for out-of-town trips


TESTING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS: 

Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. 

Tribal, State, and Federal background investigation and MVR screening required.


HIRING PREFERENCES: 

Qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe will receive Native American preference. 

Qualified applicants will receive Veteran’s Preference with submission of proof of honorable military service (e.g., DD-214).
