Job purpose

As Housekeeper your primary responsibility is to provide a clean-living space for residents, visitors and families for retirement community that includes independent living, assisted living and memory care.  This includes, but is not limited to dusting, vacuuming, laundry, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows, and taking out trash. Observes the condition of each apartment reports any health and safety concerns to appropriate manager. Living space includes but isn’t limited to an entire apartment, public areas such as the lobby, restrooms, as well as sitting areas throughout the community. Housekeepers will also clean exterior spaces as requested. Housekeepers will be required to clean and disinfect areas to control infections. Delegated responsibility to perform duties as stated in The Community Policies and Procedures and in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Clean apartment kitchen, countertops, microwave, sink, cabinets, and floor. Wipe and clean refrigerator, disposes of food/liquid      that could be a health hazard to residents. 
  • Clean and sanitize bathroom sink, vanity, toilet, shower, floor, fixtures and mirrors
  • Provide clean towels, bed linens and toilet paper. If the resident has their own bed linens, they are to be used in lieu of the      bed linens the Community provides.
  • Ensure that all personal linen is folded and put away in an organized, neat, and wrinkle free manner
  • Empty waste baskets, provide a fresh liner for waste baskets and disposes of trash
  • Dust and clean furniture, windowsills, wall vents, fans, baseboard, lighting fixtures, blinds, air conditioning/heating units. Do not move breakable or fragile items to dust and do not touch medications 
  • Vacuum carpets, sweeps and mops floors. Vacuum under bed, chairs/recliners and along exposed wall spaces. Do not move heavy      furniture that could result in injury, but ensure the area is clean using      vacuum extensions
  • Clean mirrors as well as the inside and outside of all windows
  • Demonstrate safe and proper techniques for chemical handling, chemical use, cleaning tool use and stocking of housekeeping      cart

· Communicates professionally and effectively with residents, families, and co-workers 

· Present a professional demeanor that communicates the Community philosophy to all residents and staff. 

· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director 

· Report all emergency situations, reportable incidents, staffing issues and observable changes in resident behaviors and/or health status to their direct supervisor

  • Pass  Background Check 
  • Pass Routine TB Test
  • Able to use general office equipment and computer systems as required
  • Must  demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Has familiarity and willingness to work with elderly population

Working conditions

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. Please wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided. 

Physical requirements

Must be able to meet physical demands of lifting and moving over 30 pounds, sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours. Moving at a high pace for long periods of time. 

Hours and Dress Code

We will supply uniforms but must be returned upon end of employment or $150.00 will be taken out of your final paycheck!

Non-exempt, hourly position. Must be available on weekend
