THE REALITY
Big Tech ruined the "Staff Engineer" title.
At most legacy SaaS companies, becoming a Staff Engineer means you stop building. You spend your weeks writing 20-page design docs that nobody reads, arguing over Jira tickets, and babysitting 15-year-old architectural debt.
We are done with that.
Simple is not an AI wrapper. We are the AI-Native Operating System for the Agentic Age. We have re-architected the physics of enterprise software (Elixir/OTP/WASM) to bypass the limitations of legacy SaaS. We are replacing "Software as a Service" with "Service as a Software."
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who is ready to stop maintaining the past and start architecting the future.
THE MISSION
You will be the bridge between our core OS (Elixir/WASM) and the Application Layer. You will architect the mission-critical systems that run the world’s largest construction, manufacturing, and energy enterprises—replacing SAP and Salesforce instances entirely.
As a Staff Engineer at Simple, you aren’t just writing code; you are setting the technical standard for the entire company.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Architect at Scale: Design the Application Layer that interfaces with our Schema-First (SCL) backend and AI Primitives. You will solve the hardest distributed systems and frontend architecture problems we have.
- Be a Force Multiplier: Set the patterns, tooling, and standards that allow the rest of the engineering team to move at 10x speed.
- Ship AI-Native Workflows: Architect dynamic, complex UI/UX that adapts to Natural Language inputs and autonomous AI Agents, killing the traditional "CRUD Form."
- Code as a Weapon:** You will stay hands-on. You lead by shipping elegant, hyper-efficient code, not just by drawing boxes on a whiteboard.
THE DNA (WHO YOU ARE)
- You are AI-Augmented (Non-Negotiable): You don't pride yourself on typing every character manually. You use tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Antigravity to write boilerplate so you can spend your brainpower on architecture. If you code like it’s 2019, you are too slow for us.
- You are a System Thinker: You understand how a change in the GraphQL schema impacts frontend render cycles, database loads, and AI token limits.
- You are a Builder, not a Bureaucrat: You don't wait for permission. You understand the CEO's vision, you see the business gap, and you ship the technical solution.
THE STACK (MUST HAVES)
- 7+ Years of Shipping: You have scars from scaling large applications.
- TypeScript / Frontend Architecture: Deep, masterful experience with TypeScript, React/Vue, and Tailwind. You know how to build UIs that are both beautiful and violently fast.
- Data & API Mastery: Advanced experience with GraphQL and bridging complex backends to frontend clients.
- High-Level System Design: You know how to design for fault tolerance, scale, and extremely low latency.
BONUS POINTS
- Experience with Elixir, OTP, or Go (Golang).
- Deep understanding of WebAssembly (WASM).
- You have worked on core platform engineering, not just UI features.
