About BolsterBiz
BolsterBiz helps US-based companies scale efficiently by building and managing high-quality teams in India across Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, SRE, Customer Support, Digital Marketing, and Data Analytics. We manage hiring, payroll, compliance, performance, and day-to-day operations, acting as an extension of our clients' teams.
You'll work on high-availability systems that connect with financial institutions and payment processors, ensuring secure, compliant, and lightning-fast transactions. The work you do will directly impact our users' ability to access their money instantly, earn meaningful rewards, and experience transparent, fee-free financial services.
You'll have the opportunity to work with modern technologies (including Rust microservices and event-driven systems) while shaping the next generation of inclusive, data-powered financial products. You'll design APIs and microservices that connect financial institutions, payment processors, and data platforms, all while ensuring reliability and privacy at scale.
You'll be a great fit for the role if:
• You care deeply about operational quality and enjoy ensuring customer-impacting workflows are handled accurately and consistently.
• You have experience executing and improving runbook-driven processes, and can spot gaps or edge cases that need better documentation or tooling.
• You're strong at bug investigation, validating issues, confirming repeatability, and grouping related problems to reduce noise.
• You're comfortable making small, targeted improvements, including light code changes, minor data fixes, or internal reporting enhancements.
• You communicate clearly and collaborate well across CX, Product, and Engineering in a feedback-driven environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Production Incident Support (70%) — Working closely with the Head of Customer Support to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents impacting customers, including the runbook-based CX support and bug investigation work detailed below.
• API / Microservice Development (30%) — Building and enhancing backend systems, including designing and shipping APIs and microservices that connect financial institutions, payment processors, and data platforms.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Runbook-based CX support
• Provide runbook-based support for Customer Experience (CX) tickets, handling common operational workflows and ensuring timely resolution of user issues, including:
○ Advance failure remediation and investigation
○ Repayment issues and troubleshooting
○ Advance and repayment confirmations for users and internal teams
○ Account deletion requests and related follow-up actions
○ Collaborate and communicate with both CX and Engineering teams
Bug investigation
• Perform initial investigation on reported bugs to help streamline engineering efforts by:
○ Validating bug reports and confirming reproducibility
○ Identifying root patterns and grouping related issues (e.g., debit card failures, Plaid linking problems, repayment errors)
○ Providing clear, actionable context to engineering teams for deeper fixes
Internal tooling and reporting
• Support internal tooling and internal user-facing features by:
○ Implementing reporting or visibility enhancements (such as user state indicators or collection attempt history)
○ Addressing bugs, primarily related to data accuracy, user experience, and display issues
• Assist with reporting and data requests across the organization:
○ Generate user counts and performance metrics for investigations, audits, or validation efforts
○ Execute one-off data operations such as mass user blocking, PII cleanup or corrections, and targeted data fixes
Technical Requirements
• Programming Language — Experience writing excellent production code in Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), Rust, or similar.
• Database — Experience with advanced queries using MySQL, Postgres, SpannerDB, or similar, since investigations will require digging into raw data.
• Architecture — Experience implementing Microservice architecture, Event-driven architecture, or similar — at least 4–5 years total (or 2 years Microservices + 2 years API development).
• API Layer — Experience building GraphQL, gRPC, and REST APIs.
• Infrastructure — Working knowledge of Cloud (GCP/AWS), Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Kafka, S3/GCS Buckets, Artifactory, BigQuery/Data Lake, etc.
• APM — Working knowledge of application monitoring and logging systems like Grafana/Prometheus, New Relic, Kibana, Datadog, or similar.
• BI Tools — Experience with BI tools like Looker, Tableau, etc.
• Domain — Fintech experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, SDET, or technical operations supporting production systems.
• Strong focus on operational quality and correctness in customer-impacting workflows, particularly in financial or regulated domains.
• Comfort executing and improving runbook-driven operational processes, including identifying gaps, edge cases, and documentation issues.
• Proven ability to investigate and validate production issues, including reproduction, confirmation, and defect clustering to reduce noise.
• Ability to make small, scoped improvements to existing systems (e.g., test fixes, configuration changes, minor data corrections, or internal tooling enhancements).
• Working knowledge of logs, metrics, and basic service observability for debugging and validation.
• Clear, effective collaboration with Customer Experience, Product, and Engineering teams to close feedback loops.
