Position Title: Staff Engineer Infrastructure
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, document, test, and enhance ITOM / CMDB capabilities, including discovery patterns, sensors, and integrations.
- Champion ITOM best practices, standards, and governance across the organization.
- Partner daily with the Configuration Management and Asset Management Process Owners to align technical solutions with CMDB and AMDB requirements.
- Ensure Discovery tools maintain proper access and permissions to collect configuration data across on-prem and multi-cloud environments.
- Monitor, track, and report on Discovery and Event Management performance metrics. · Collaborate with Infrastructure Architects to align ITOM solutions with enterprise technology strategy.
- Administer ITOM tools across production and non-production environments, ensuring stability and data integrity.
- Support patching, upgrades, release cycles, and troubleshoot related issues.
- Maintain and enhance Event Management flows, event, alert management and assignment rules as needed.
- Identify automation opportunities and implement scoped ITOM enhancements.
- Ensure CMDB and AMDB data quality; serve as partial owner of both repositories.
Qualifications Required:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITOM, specifically Discovery and / or Event Management.
- 5+ years’ experience within a large enterprise IT organization.
- Strong experience with MID Server Administration, including virtual and containerized MID servers.
- Working knowledge of multi-cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, OCI, IBM, etc.).
- Experience with containerized and geographically distributed infrastructures.
- Familiarity with Agile / DevOps methodologies, story scoping, and backlog refinement. · Demonstrated experience developing strategic service data models.
- Proficiency in platform scripting (JavaScript) and automation.
- Experience with common protocols and integration technologies (WMI, SSH, SNMP, PowerShell, REST, SOAP, JavaScript).
- Hands-on experience integrating external tools with CMDB and AMDB.
- Experience working with performance monitoring tools and metrics.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Intermediate-level Windows and Unix administration skills.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (routers, switches, firewalls, NSG, load balancers).
- Working knowledge of XML, JSON, and scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of Java Regular Expressions (Reg Ex).
- Ability to diagnose credentials, installation, permissions, and network connectivity issues.
- Experience with LDAP, Active Directory, SUDO.
- Knowledge of converged platforms, web / app servers, load balancers, databases, cloud solutions, and virtualization (WebSphere, MQ, IIS, Apache, VMware).
Preferred:
- ITIL v4 certification a plus
- Experience with multi-source CMDB (CMDB360)
- ServiceNow Administration certification
