Job Overview
Component Level Lead Validation Engineer – Telematics ECU
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Component Level Lead Validation Engineer to lead verification and validation activities for next-generation Telematics ECUs. The role is responsible for requirement analysis, test strategy development, test planning, manual and automated testing, defect management, dashboard reporting, and ASPICE-compliant SYS.5 and SWE.6 validation activities. The engineer will work closely with software, system, DevOps, integration, cybersecurity, and vehicle validation teams to ensure delivery of robust and high-quality telematics products.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform component-level validation of Telematics ECUs.
- Develop and maintain test strategies, validation plans, validation specifications, and test procedures.
- Perform requirement analysis and create high-quality manual and automated test cases.
- Execute validation activities on Component, SiL, HiL, and automated test environments.
- Validate telematics applications and connected vehicle services including remote operations, digital key, stolen vehicle services, device management, drive alerts, diagnostics, positioning, OTA, connectivity services, infotainment-related applications, and cloud-connected features.
- Validate LTE/4G/5G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, V2X, eCall, MQTT, LwM2M and IP-based communication services.
- Validate CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, TCP/IP, UDP, UDS and DoIP communication stacks.
- Conduct defect analysis, debugging, root cause investigation, and issue tracking.
- Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and execution results.
- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks and automated regression suites.
- Support continuous integration and continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Review test cases, test reports, automation code, and validation deliverables.
- Maintain validation dashboards, KPIs, coverage metrics, and project status reports.
- Provide validation status and quality metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with system validation, integration, software, DevOps, cybersecurity, and vehicle-level validation teams for E2E validation alignment.
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL, vTESTstudio and Vector toolchain.
- Hands-on Linux usage including scripting, debugging, log analysis, and system-level investigation.
- Strong experience with Python-based test automation and automation frameworks.
- Experience with ECU-Test, dSPACE, Vector tools, TeamCity, Jenkins or equivalent automation environments.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR System ARXML and Component ARXML.
- Strong understanding of System Validation (SYS.5) and Software Qualification Testing (SWE.6).
- Knowledge of MCU and embedded platform validation.
- Experience with manual and automated test execution methodologies.
- Experience implementing end-to-end automated validation solutions and regression frameworks.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity validation including TLS, certificates, authentication, and secure communications.
Tools & Process Knowledge
- ALM Tools: IBM RTC/EWM, Jira, DNG or equivalent.
- Test Management Tools: IBM RQM/ETM or equivalent.
- Agile Scrum and SAFe methodologies.
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- ASPICE-compliant development and validation processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8–15+ years of automotive software/system validation experience.
- Strong telematics and connected vehicle domain experience.
- Experience validating OTA, cloud connectivity, telematics services, and connected applications.
- Knowledge of cellular technologies including 2G, 3G, 4G LTE and 5G.
- Knowledge of GNSS, location services, and positioning technologies.
- Experience in cybersecurity and ISO/SAE 21434 concepts.
- Experience working with global cross-functional teams.
