About The Role
Qualcomm is seeking an experienced Chipset Power System Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in addressing power challenges associated with next-generation Snapdragon automotive chipsets. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for developing innovative solutions aimed at optimizing power consumption, thereby enhancing the efficiency and performance of complex systems. As a key member of the team, you will lead cross-functional efforts to model, analyze, and improve power architectures at the SOC and platform levels. Your expertise will directly influence the design of power-efficient hardware and software solutions, ensuring our products meet stringent low-power requirements while maintaining high performance standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automotive chipsets, contributing to the future of connected vehicles and intelligent systems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A solid understanding of low-power design principles at the SOC, chipset, and platform levels is essential. Candidates should have experience with system-level power modeling, analysis, and optimization, particularly within automotive or similar high-performance environments. Knowledge of architectural components such as application processors, modem processors, AR/XR, machine learning accelerators, or automotive-specific SOCs is highly desirable. Hands-on experience in hardware or software design, along with the ability to perform power tradeoff analyses, will be advantageous. Strong analytical skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities, are necessary to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and engage with customers to address specific power requirements. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for bachelor’s degree holders, 3 years for master’s degree holders, or 2 years for PhD holders is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze power architecture models, conducting tradeoff studies to identify optimal solutions for power efficiency and performance.
- Create and refine system-level power models for SOCs, chipsets, and platforms, ensuring accuracy and relevance to real-world applications.
- Identify power requirements and quantify potential gaps or risks, providing actionable insights to mitigate issues early in the development cycle.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to optimize power consumption across all stages of product development.
- Design and implement power management features, working closely with cross-functional teams to realize power targets from conception through production.
- Engage with customers to showcase chipset capabilities, understand specific power needs, and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Perform power modeling for customer-specific use cases, ensuring solutions meet both technical and commercial requirements.
- Guide multi-disciplinary teams through design cycles, ensuring adherence to power efficiency goals and project timelines.
