Full-Time Business Classroom Teacher
A classroom teacher supports student learning, growth, and development through their assigned classes and duties and supports and strengthens the mission of Bishop Dwenger High School, to develop “Citizens of Two Worlds” who excel in the areas of spirituality, service, academics, and the active life upholding the Catholic Faith.
Job Responsibility
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver effective instruction in assigned business courses
- Two open full-time positions with the following course available: 7 semesters of Preparing for College and Careers, 2 semesters of Computing Foundations in the Digital Age, and 11 semesters of Personal Financial Responsibility, and one semester each of Principles of Business Management 1 and 2. Course load will be determined based on qualifications and licensure.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum frameworks
- Integrate real-world applications, technology, and project-based learning
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations
- Maintain accurate and timely grade records
Faith Integration
- Incorporate Catholic values and ethical considerations into business topics and curriculum frameworks (e.g., ethical leadership, stewardship, human dignity in the workplace)
- Foster respectful classroom dialogue grounded in Christian principles
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a structured, positive, and respectful classroom environment
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic integrity
- Promote student responsibility and professionalism
Student Support
- Provide academic support and mentorship to students in the classroom and within the school-wide Emmaus group initiative
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborate with counselors, administration, and colleagues to support student success
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school/diocesan events
- Maintain appropriate certification/licensure and professional growth
- Serve as moderator for a club, co-curricular activity, or committee as assigned
- Fulfill supervisory duties as assigned (e.g., lunch, study hall, dismissal)
Qualifications
Required
- Indiana teaching license in any grades 5-12, and to teach Computing Foundations in Digital Age in a 5-12 license in Computer Science, Business, or Information Technology
- Valid state teaching license (or ability to obtain licensure)
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of business principles and current industry practices
- Effective classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate faith and ethical principles into curriculum
- Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems
