Overall Job Purpose
At M&G, we are building a modern, reliable, cloud-driven technology foundation to support a digital, insight-led business. As part of this transformation, we are seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Support Engineer to join our Cloud Site Reliability Engineering team in Pune.
In this role, you will provide expert support for our Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) estate, ensuring platform stability, automation, security, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with cloud, security, application and DevOps teams to deliver a resilient container platform that supports business-critical workloads.
You will own complex issues end-to-end, ensure the health of OpenShift clusters, streamline operations through automation, and help shape best practices for container platform support. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about cloud-native platforms and Kubernetes technologies.
Our team supports a global business, which includes flexible working arrangements across core UK hours, out-of-hours support, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rota.

As a Kubernetes Support Engineer, you will:
- Provide expert operational support for Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) clusters, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability.
- Act as a key point of escalation for complex OpenShift, Kubernetes, and container platform issues.
- Own production incidents end-to-end; diagnosis, remediation, root-cause analysis, and prevention of recurrence.
- Work with the engineering teams to aid them in the design, implementation and maintenance of automated solutions to enhance the reliability and efficiency of ARO environments, including the review and implementation of disaster recovery runbooks and backup policies (OADP).
- Drive upgrades and cluster lifecycle operations across ARO.
- Identify, implement and maintain monitoring for the ARO platform
- Support and manage the Azure resources underpinning OpenShift clusters (VNets, Load Balancers, Firewalls, Storage, RBAC, Policies).
- Ensure platform adherence to identity, networking, logging, monitoring, and operational standards, including providing evidences for audit compliance and applying and reviewing network and security policies (Kyverno).
- Communicate effectively with engineering teams, application teams and relevant third-party providers such as Redhat and Microsoft, including creating and representing changes in forums.
- Support major incidents and participate in out-of-hours and on-call work where required.
- Provide knowledge sharing sessions and create relevant documentation to ensure that all team members have the relevant skills to support the platform.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification
- Minimum 5 years experience in Platform Support, Cloud Support, Application Support, or Infrastructure roles.
- Hands of experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) or similar Kubernetes-based platforms is essential.
- Certifications such as AZ-900 (or similar cloud fundamentals certification) are required. Red Hat OpenShift Administrator or similar Kubernetes certifications are advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containerisation concepts, Operators, Ingress, Networking, Storage and cluster lifecycle, including Machine set, cluster autoscaling, safe drain/cordon, RHCOS patch cycles, worker pools, quotas and configuring limits and requests.
- Proficiency in scripting languages including PowerShell, YAML, Terraform, KQL and Kubernetes-native tooling (Operators, Helm, GitOps).
- Experience administering Azure components:
- RBAC, Entra ID, PIM, Policies, Networking, Firewalls, DNS, Log Analytics, Azure Monitor.
- Skilled with CLI tools: oc, kubectl, az.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, Git), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), YAML pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of observability tooling (Cluster Logging/Log Forwarder, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Log Analytics, ServiceNow).
- Demonstrable experience supporting production platforms and diagnosing complex, multi-layered issues.
- Knowledge of Private ARO networking ( VNet peering, UDRs, NAT Gateway/Azure Firewall egress, Private DNS).
