Job details:
UI/UX Designer
Shape how creators direct, compose, and bring stories to life.
Role: UI/UX Designer
Type: Full-time
Location: Mumbai - Onsite
Experience: 3–5 years in product design, ideally in creative tools, media, or entertainment tech
Role:
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who genuinely loves the creative field — someone who watches behind-the-scenes featurettes for fun, has opinions about typography in a film title sequence, and can make a complex creative workflow feel like an instrument rather than a dashboard. You will own the end-to-end experience of how creators interact with EPIC Codirector, from the first storyboard frame to the final cut.
This is a high-ownership role on a small, opinionated team. Your designs will ship, get used, and shape how the product evolves.
What you'll do
• Own the full design lifecycle for core workflows — research, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, prototypes, and design QA.
• Translate creative processes (scripting, shot planning, scene direction, editing, review cycles) into intuitive interfaces that respect how artists actually work.
• Design for expressive, content-rich surfaces — moodboards, timelines, canvases, media galleries — not just forms and tables.
• Build and maintain a cohesive design system with strong visual identity, motion language, and component patterns.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and creative leads to balance feasibility, polish, and storytelling.
• Run lightweight user research with creators, directors, and editors — synthesise insights into clear product decisions.
• Prototype interactions and micro-animations that make the tool feel alive and cinematic.
• Champion accessibility, performance, and craft in every screen that ships.
What we're looking for
• 3–5 years designing digital products, with a portfolio that shows both rigorous UX thinking and strong visual craft.
• Fluency in Figma, including components, variables, auto-layout, and prototyping.
• A real feel for the creative field — film, animation, photography, music, design, or adjacent disciplines. You should be able to talk shop with creators.
• Strong information architecture and interaction design fundamentals — you can structure complexity without making it feel complex.
• A strong typographic and compositional eye. You sweat 4-pixel decisions.
• Comfort designing for power users and pro workflows, not just consumer-grade simplicity.
• Clear, confident communication — you can defend design decisions and also let go of them when needed.
Bonus points
• Experience designing creative tools (editors, DAWs, design software, video tools, animation tools, AI creative apps).
• Motion design skills — After Effects, Rive, Lottie, or Figma's prototyping at an advanced level.
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS or front-end frameworks enough to collaborate fluently with engineers.
• Previous experience working with AI-assisted or generative creative tools.
What to share with your application
• A portfolio (link or PDF). We care more about your thinking and craft than the brand names.
• Optional: any personal creative work —illustrations, design experiments. We read everything.
Why join
• Design a product that creators will genuinely use to make things they care about.
• Small team, real ownership, fast shipping cycles.
• Work directly with creative practitioners as part of your daily process.
