A day in the life:
A typical day as a Senior Systems Engineer would involve managing and optimising our Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Entra ID environments, ensuring our systems, identities, devices, and cloud services remain secure, available, and compliant. You may work on identity and access management initiatives, automation projects using Power Automate, endpoint management through Microsoft Intune, and the deployment of new security controls and policies
You will collaborate closely with security, infrastructure, and business teams to investigate incidents, manage compliance and data protection requirements, improve operational processes, and create technical documentation and standard operating procedures. Regular communication with stakeholders and vendors is essential to deliver projects, support users, and ensure the seamless operation of our business-critical cloud platforms and services
About Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft 365 administration, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure cloud services, endpoint management, automation, and enterprise security. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, scalability, and performance of our business-critical systems and cloud-based platforms. We are also looking for an excellent communicator who can convey and break down complex technical concepts for non-technical users. You should be able to gather and understand requirements from key stakeholders, provide technical guidance and solutions, and keep all parties informed throughout the lifecycle of a project
Responsibilities:
- Microsoft 365, Identity & Access Management: Manage and maintain Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Azure environments, ensuring security, availability, and operational excellence. Implement and support identity and access management solutions, including Conditional Access, MFA, group-based provisioning, authentication policies, and enterprise application integrations, while maintaining compliance and security best practices
- IIS Servers Management: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot IIS servers to support our web applications. Ensure high availability and reliability of web services hosted on IIS.
- Data Center Migration: Lead the migration of servers from one data center to another, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Plan and execute data center migration strategies, including risk assessments and mitigation plans.
- Microsoft 365 & Exchange Administration: Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services and Exchange Online, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient email communication, mailbox management, mail flow, and messaging infrastructure operations.
- Compliance and PCI Scan Reviews: Conduct regular compliance and PCI scan reviews, implementing necessary security measures to maintain compliance. Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Configuration Management: Implement and manage configuration management tools to ensure consistent and automated server configurations. Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts for automated provisioning and deployment.
- Azure Cloud Services: Leverage Azure cloud services to build, deploy, and manage scalable cloud applications. Optimize Azure resources for cost, performance, and security.
- MSSQL DB Management: Manage MSSQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security (preferred but not required). Perform regular database maintenance, backups, and performance tuning.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline CI/CD processes. Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

- 5 to 8 years of overall IT experience
- 3 or more years of experience with Cloud (Azure experience preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
- ITIL (foundational level, but exposure to more detail than foundational is often necessary)
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive)
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Identity & Access Management, Conditional Access and MFA
- Microsoft Azure Cloud Services (Azure Portal, Azure PowerShell, Cloud governance)
- Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Management for Windows and macOS devices
- Power Automate, workflow automation & business process optimisation
- Microsoft Security & Compliance technologies, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), security investigations and policy management
- Microsoft Copilot administration, governance and adoption initiatives
- Technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge management
- Vendor management and SaaS platform administration
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
