About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at Aptonet. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining our internal actuarial cloud platform, which serves as a backbone for our global clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud-first API development, legacy system support, and enterprise-scale solutions. You will work closely with actuaries, architects, and product stakeholders to build innovative cloud solutions that enhance our service offerings and streamline operational workflows. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our platform’s performance, security, and scalability.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with proven expertise in cloud-based systems and API platforms. A strong foundation in C# and .NET frameworks is essential, along with hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in API development, containerization, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform. Additional skills in SQL, relational and NoSQL databases, and modern front-end frameworks like React are highly desirable. Certifications related to cloud technologies or software engineering are a plus, as is experience in the insurance or reinsurance domain. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support API-based applications with a cloud-first approach, ensuring high quality and scalability.
- Independently create end-to-end technical solutions from initial concept through to deployment and maintenance.
- Resolve complex technical challenges by applying sound engineering judgment and innovative problem-solving techniques.
- Support and enhance existing legacy systems while simultaneously building modern cloud-native solutions.
- Collaborate closely with business users, product owners, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
- Implement best practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD), clean coding principles, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
- Continuously evaluate and improve system performance, security, and reliability to meet evolving business needs.
