About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level who possess a strong familiarity with high-quality public GitHub repositories. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with well-maintained, widely-used repositories that have garnered over 5000 stars. This role involves hands-on software engineering activities, including automating development environments, triaging issues, and evaluating test coverage and quality. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing and managing open-source projects, contributing to the enhancement of AI-driven bug-fixing tools, and collaborating with research teams to identify challenging repositories for large language models (LLMs).
The position offers opportunities to lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovative solutions. The role requires active participation in setting up and configuring code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, as well as modifying and running codebases locally to assess LLM performance. The candidate will also be involved in evaluating unit test coverage, identifying gaps, and ensuring the robustness of open-source projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming language.
- Solid understanding and experience with Git version control system.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and setting up software pipelines.
- Ability to navigate and understand complex codebases effectively.
- Experience running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally.
- Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and quality to identify areas for improvement.
- Modify, run, and test codebases locally to assess performance and bug-fixing capabilities of large language models.
- Collaborate with researchers and developers to identify repositories and issues that challenge LLMs.
- Assist in designing experiments and evaluating the effectiveness of AI models in real-world scenarios.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of open-source projects and internal tools.
