Job Description – Senior Production Merchandiser
Role Overview
The Senior Production Merchandiser will be responsible for the end-to-end execution and monitoring of garment production at Torani Design Studio. The role requires strong ownership of production timelines, material readiness, interdepartmental coordination, quality follow-ups, and timely order completion.
The candidate will act as a key link between the **Design, Sampling, Fabric, Trims, Printing, Embroidery, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Business teams**, ensuring that every style moves smoothly from approved sample to finished garment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Order Execution
* Manage production orders from final sample approval through completion and handover to the warehouse.
* Prepare and maintain detailed **Time & Action (T&A) plans** for all styles and production orders.
* Monitor production priorities based on launch dates, retail requirements, e-commerce orders, MBO requirements, exhibitions, and special projects.
* Ensure production targets and committed delivery dates are achieved.
* Identify delays and bottlenecks proactively and escalate them with solutions.
2. Style & Production Handover
* Ensure complete handover of approved styles from the Design and Sampling teams to Production.
* Verify that approved samples, specifications, measurements, BOMs, fabric details, trims, artworks, embroidery references, and finishing instructions are complete before bulk production.
* Ensure production follows the final approved sample and specifications.
3. Fabric, Trims & Raw Material Coordination
* Coordinate with the Fabric and Trims teams to ensure timely availability of all materials.
* Track fabric procurement, dyeing, printing, washing, embroidery, trims, accessories, and other production inputs.
* Monitor material shortages and ensure timely replenishment.
* Coordinate with relevant teams to avoid production delays caused by material non-availability.
4. Production Tracking & WIP Management
* Maintain accurate **WIP and production trackers** for every style and order.
* Track each stage, including cutting, printing, embroidery, stitching, finishing, quality checking, alteration/rework, and packing.
* Conduct regular production floor follow-ups and review actual progress against planned timelines.
* Ensure that no style remains unnecessarily stuck at any production stage.
5. Vendor & Job-Worker Coordination
* Coordinate with external vendors and job workers for printing, embroidery, dyeing, stitching, finishing, and other outsourced processes.
* Communicate production requirements, quantities, specifications, and deadlines clearly.
* Monitor vendor performance on quality, timelines, and output.
* Escalate recurring vendor delays or quality concerns to management.
6. Quality & Technical Coordination
* Work closely with Production and Quality teams to ensure garments meet Torani’s required quality standards.
* Ensure quality issues are identified during production rather than only at the final stage.
* Coordinate corrective action for workmanship, measurement, fabric, print, embroidery, finishing, and construction issues.
* Track rejection, alteration, and rework and ensure timely closure.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
* Coordinate closely with:
* Design & Sampling
* Fabric & Trims
* Printing & Embroidery
* Production & Tailoring
* Quality Control
* Warehouse
* Business, Retail & E-commerce teams
* Ensure all departments have clear visibility on priorities, timelines, dependencies, and delays.
8. MIS, ERP & Reporting
* Maintain accurate production data in the company’s ERP and internal trackers.
* Prepare daily and weekly production status reports.
* Maintain style-wise and order-wise visibility of:
* Order quantity
* Production stage
* Material availability
* WIP
* Completed quantity
* Pending quantity
* Rejections and rework
* Expected completion date
* Ensure ERP and physical production status are aligned.
9. Team Management
* Guide and supervise junior production merchandisers and coordinators.
* Allocate responsibilities and monitor daily follow-ups.
* Establish strong reporting and documentation practices within the team.
* Drive accountability and timely closure of pending tasks.

Required Skills & Competencies
* Strong knowledge of garment production and merchandising processes
* Excellent understanding of fabrics, trims, garment construction, embroidery, printing, and finishing
* Strong production planning and T&A management skills
* Ability to manage multiple styles and production priorities simultaneously
* Strong vendor and interdepartmental coordination skills
* Excellent follow-up and problem-solving ability
* Advanced working knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets
* Experience working with ERP or production management systems
* Strong communication and team-management skills
* High attention to detail and strong ownership of timelines
Educational Qualification
Degree or Diploma in **Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Textile Technology, Fashion Management, or a related field**.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in a designer label, luxury fashion house, couture brand, ethnic wear brand, or premium garment manufacturing setup. Experience handling complex garments involving multiple processes such as printing, embroidery, handwork, dyeing, and specialised finishing will be strongly preferred.
The candidate must be highly organised, process-driven, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced creative environment where quality and timelines are equally critical.
