Role Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated Product Designer to join our Core Design System team to build, govern, evolve, and maintain the shared UI components, interaction patterns, and design tokens powering our client platforms.
This is a systems-first role—you will treat our design system as a living product rather than designing individual user-facing application features. We are looking for candidates who have spent the last 2+ years extensively and hands-on building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade design systems. You will originate net-new components (e.g., tables, forms, carousels) while governing existing libraries to ensure complete consistency, accessibility, and spec parity across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Component Design & Figma Library Management
- Library Ownership: Design, document, and maintain Figma component libraries (including active core components and beta sets).
- Net-New Component Authoring: Own the design of net-new components and interaction patterns (tables, tabs, forms, carousels, dense admin layouts vs. consumer layouts) from initial concept through complete Figma spec.
- Design-to-Code Parity: Ensure Figma component properties align 1:1 with code component APIs (React Native stack).
- Usage Guidance: Author comprehensive usage rules as a first-class deliverable (“when to use what” documentation).
- Token Architecture & Multi-Platform Design
- Token Management: Manage design tokens (color, typography, spacing, radius, shadows) via Figma variables across multi-brand presets and future theme extensibility.
- Cross-Platform Systems: Design and validate components for a mobile-first React Native stack to ensure uniform rendering across iOS, Android, and Web from a unified codebase.
- Visual Theme Editor: Contribute to the design of visual theme editor UIs enabling client admins to customize brand themes code-free.
- Governance, QA & Federated Intake
- Contribution Intake: Own the end-to-end federated contribution intake process, conducting async design alignment reviews with product teams operating in IST.
- Design QA: Audit shipped and built production components against Figma specs to eliminate visual, spacing, and interaction drift alongside engineering.
- Adoption & Support: Assist product teams in integrating design system components, filling UI gaps, and driving system adoption.
- Accessibility & Documentation
- Accessibility Audits: Partner with the Accessibility team to schedule, scope, and track component audits against WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
- Remediation Ownership: Route, triage, and implement design-side fixes for accessibility feedback to closure.
- Public System Documentation: Maintain component specs, usage guidelines, and foundation principles on our central design documentation platform.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- Dedicated Design Systems Focus: 4–6 years total UI/UX design experience, with extensive experience spent focused exclusively or heavily on design systems / component libraries in the last 2 years.
- Portfolio Verification: Must possess a portfolio demonstrating systems-level work: component architectural specs, token structures, responsive variants, and pattern documentation.
- Advanced Figma Expertise: Deep, hands-on mastery of Figma (variants, auto-layout, component properties, variables/tokens, and Dev Mode / Code Connect).
- Cross-Platform Architecture: Demonstrated experience designing unified component systems across iOS, Android, and Web contexts.
- Design-to-Code Fluency: Working fluency reading front-end component code (HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, or React) to verify 1:1 API parity with engineering.
