Your Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of automotive high-speed connectors used in next-generation infotainment, ADAS, and autonomous vehicle platforms. This role requires deep technical knowledge in mechanical design, and high-speed interconnect systems, along with experience in working with OEMs and Tier 1 customers.
What You Will Do
- 8+ years of experience in connector design and development, with at least 3+ years focused on high-speed automotive connectors.
- Strong understanding of electromechanical design, high-speed signal transmission principles, and connector reliability.
- Hands on working knowledge on NX/Creo
- Familiarity with automotive standards such as USCAR, ISO, LV214, and IPC.
- Experience with DVP&R, DFMEA, and APQP/PPAP processes.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Lead the end-to-end product development of high-speed automotive connectors, including design, simulation, prototyping, and validation.
- Drive signal integrity (SI)–focused product design with optimized electrical performance for protocols such as Ethernet, LVDS, SerDes, PCIe, and USB.
- Create and manage 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using tools like NX, TeamCenter ensuring compliance with DFM and DFA principles.
- Drive mechanical simulations and electrical, including SI analysis, impedance matching, crosstalk analysis, and thermal/stress simulations.
- Define and execute Design Verification Plans (DVP&R) and validation testing according to automotive standards (USCAR-2, USCAR-17, LV214, ISO 16750, GMW).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including signal integrity engineers, materials, testing labs, and manufacturing to ensure robust design.
- Interface directly with OEM and Tier-1 customers to define requirements, present technical concepts, and support validation.
- Drive evaluation and material selection for RF performance, mechanical strength, thermal behaviour, and long-term reliability.
- Contribute to design FMEAs, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with tooling and process engineering to develop cost-effective, scalable manufacturing solutions.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and support global engineering teams in developing high-speed connector platforms.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP) Connector design and automotive Ethernet.
- Knowledge of coaxial and hybrid high-speed connector systems.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in automotive interconnects.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter).
- Exposure to Agile or Stage-Gate product development processes.
