Job Title: Senior Manager – Planning (HVAC)
Location: Head Office, Gurgaon — with travel to project sites as required
Reporting to: Head of Planning / COO – Planning
Function: Planning & Monitoring (HVAC) — MEP/EPC Projects
About the role
We are hiring a Senior Manager – Planning (HVAC) for a well-established MEP/EPC contracting organisation based in Gurgaon. The role owns planning and monitoring for the HVAC scope across the company’s projects — building reliable schedules, integrating procurement and site realities, and giving management an early, accurate view of progress and risk so that projects are delivered on time and margins are protected.
This is a hands-on senior planning role for someone who can do more than operate software — someone who can challenge schedules, spot slippage before it happens, and drive recovery with project teams.
Key responsibilities
1. HVAC planning and scheduling
Develop and maintain baseline schedules for HVAC works (chillers, AHUs/FCUs, VRF, ducting, piping, insulation, ventilation, BMS) in Primavera P6 / MS Project, integrated with the overall MEP programme. Ensure schedules reflect actual execution requirements — engineering and shop-drawing deliverables, material and make approvals, long-lead equipment procurement, site readiness, manpower, installation, testing and commissioning.
2. Monitoring and progress control
Establish consistent progress measurement, short-term look-aheads, and critical-path and milestone tracking. Review productivity and resource constraints with project teams and ensure reporting is backed by reliable site data — highlighting the decisions and interventions required, not merely historical progress.
3. Delay and risk management
Identify delays and emerging risks early, agree corrective and recovery actions with the responsible teams, and track them through to closure.
4. Procurement and material planning coordination
Align HVAC equipment and material delivery schedules with site requirements — avoiding both shortages and unnecessary early procurement. Coordinate procurement lead times and approvals with the purchase and stores functions.
5. Cost and quantity awareness
Track HVAC quantities, budgeted vs. actual progress, and procurement variances; flag adverse trends early to support the cost-control function.
6. Coordination, systems and reporting
Act as the planning coordination point between Design/BIM, Procurement, Commercial, Finance and site teams. Maintain accurate, timely planning data in ERP/planning tools and produce integrated MIS that connects progress, procurement status, and risk.
Candidate profile
- Experience: 10–15 years in project planning within MEP/EPC contracting, with substantial depth in the HVAC discipline across multiple projects.
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, installation sequences, and testing & commissioning; familiarity with ISHRAE/ASHRAE/SMACNA practices an advantage.
- Tools: Expert in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project, ERP systems, and Excel-based dashboards — able to interpret and challenge outputs, not just maintain them.
- Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical) or equivalent; a project-management credential (PMP/relevant) is an advantage.
- Attributes: Strong coordination and communication, ownership of deliverables, and the discipline to follow issues through to closure.
What’s on offer
An opportunity to own the HVAC planning function in a growing MEP/EPC organisation, working closely with senior leadership and shaping how projects are planned and monitored.
