Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Full Stack Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications across multiple technology stacks. The successful candidate will have strong experience developing modern web applications and distributed services using TypeScript, Node.js, Java/Kotlin, and Spring Boot, while working within an agile product delivery environment.
This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications and microservices.
- Build responsive web applications and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Develop robust backend services using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Integrate applications with cloud-native storage and services, including Amazon S3.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in solution design, code reviews, technical workshops, and architectural discussions.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.
- Contribute to technical standards, development frameworks, and reusable components.
Must-Have Qualifications
A successful candidate will typically have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with proven expertise in building scalable, cloud-native applications
Backend Development
- Strong commercial experience with:
- Java and/or Kotlin
- Spring Boot
- Building REST APIs and microservices architectures
- Dependency injection and enterprise application design patterns
Full Stack Development
- Extensive experience with:
- TypeScript
- Node.js
- Modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- API integration and full-stack application development
Database Technologies
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as:
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- MongoDB
- DynamoDB
Engineering Practices
- Strong understanding of:
- Agile delivery methodologies
- CI/CD pipelines
- Automated testing
- Git version control
- Secure coding practices
- Performance tuning and monitoring
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in the UK financial sector or financial sector in general. Knowing their strict compliance, risk, and security rules gives you a major edge.
Desirable Skills
- Cloud & Storage
- Hands-on experience with:
- Amazon S3
- Cloud-native application development
- AWS services and infrastructure
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka or event-streaming platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with GraphQL.
- Experience working within regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
- Exposure to domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK.
